REGINA – Brad Wall’s latest election promise is targeting parents who have children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
If re-elected on April 4, the Saskatchewan Party leader said he will increase funding for children under the age of six with autism.
Under the plan, individualized funding would start at $4,000 then increase to $8,000 by 2019-2020.
Eventually, the party would like to provide $15,000 to $18,000 annually for children under six as well as $4,800 per year for children under 18.

“Individualized financial support for the parents of children with autism and ASD will provide parents with additional resources to decide which supports are best suited for their children,” Wall said in a statement.
To transition into this plan, the party said it would establish a working group of stakeholders to look at other areas that have individualized funding like British Columbia.
