EDMONTON — Mounties are searching for five suspects after a stolen tractor and vehicle were used to break into a financial institution northeast of Edmonton early Monday morning.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP were called at 2:24 a.m. to a break-in at the Servus Credit Union in Lamont, which is about 35 kilometres east of Fort Saskatchewan on Highway 15.
A stolen tractor from a nearby business was used to break into the building, which was left heavily damaged. Police said five suspects then used a stolen vehicle to remove the credit union’s ATM.
For reasons police couldn’t explain, the bank machine was not removed from the site. Police arrived to find both the tractor and vehicle were still at the scene.
The tractor could be seen inside the building later in the morning. The investigation is ongoing, and police are awaiting security footage.
It’s not known if the suspects got away with any money.
