Cross Lake First Nation in northern Manitoba has declared a state of emergency after six suicides in two months.
A band councillor says the nursing station has recorded 140 suicide attempts in the past two weeks.

Aboriginal Affairs Minister Eric Robinson says he has spoken with his federal counterpart, Carolyn Bennett, and the two levels of government are doing what they can to assist the community.
