Montreal police investigate fatal crash in east end
WATCH ABOVE: Montreal police were at the scene of an early morning crash in Pointes-aux-Trembles Saturday, that left one man dead and another critically injured – Mar 5, 2016

MONTREAL – A 33-year-old man is dead, following a collision in Pointes-aux-Trembles early Saturday morning.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, lost control of his car and slammed into a tree on Notre-Dame Street near Tricentenaire Boulevard at 3:30 a.m.

The passenger was declared dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to hospital in critical condition. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The intersection was closed for several hours as Montreal police (SPVM) investigated.

According to Caroline Chèvrefils with the SPVM, speed may have been a factor in the crash.
