MONTREAL–The huge snowstorm that was supposed to hit Montreal didn’t quite touch down as forecasted, so, with spring break saved, Global News went out to find out what there is to do around the city.
Destination beach

There is a place in Montreal where you can feel the sand between your toes and even break a sweat if you want to.
It’s called Montreal beach and it’s a not-for-profit company.
The 14,000-square feet sand playground is a volleyball court by night and a playground by day.
Families can head to the club everyday this week until Sunday to hang out in the indoor beach from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Time travel to Ancient Rome

Families can learn about history at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts through a series of free workshops, including one where you can make your own coins.
A drop-in al fresco painting workshop is also set up where you can learn the ins and outs of Michelangelo’s trade. A scavenger hunt and more activities are underway.
Drop-in workshops run daily during March Break, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Promenade as well as the scavenger hunt.

Butterflies Go Free

Trace a butterfly’s journey… from caterpillar to the moment she spreads her wings.
You can see it all at the Botanical Gardens greenhouse until April 24. Nature interpreters are on-hand to answer any questions.

Watch family friendly movies at the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival.
It’s kind of like a pint-sized version of the Cannes International Film Festival taking place until March 6 in different cinemas across the city.
