WINNIPEG — A McDonald’s restaurant on Henderson Highway is about to start flipping burgers again, after closing its doors for more than 10 months due to a massive fire.
On April 15, 2015 a fire sparked when someone did not properly put out their cigarette before throwing it on the ground outside the restaurant.

The building on the 900 block of Henderson Highway caught fire and quickly spread because of high winds. No one was hurt during the fire and the total cost of damage was well over $1 million.

The building was torn down and demolished weeks later, but now the restaurant will reopen its doors to the public on March 4.

Nearly 80 per cent of the staff from before the closures will be returning to their old positions, according to a media release sent on Monday.
The McDonald’s restaurant is also looking to bring on 25 new employees.
