Kids escape the hardships of cancer for a night at ‘Believe in the Gold’ gala

CALGARY – Some very special children were treated to a taste of Hollywood Saturday night.

The ‘Believe in the Gold’ gala gives children battling cancer a night to escape all the hardship they face and just have a good time.

They were pampered and then escorted on the red carpet to the star-studded event at Flames Central.

Almost $75,000 dollars were raised.

Beleive in the Gold is a charitable foundation dedicated to raising awareness about childhood cancer, raising funds to help support families with medical expenses that are not covered by Alberta Health Care or extended benefit plans, and raising funds for childhood cancer research.

Believe in the Gold is the legacy of Jacey Uphill, who passed away from Ewings Sarcoma in October 2012. While isolated in a hospital room, Jacey claimed the word, ‘believe’ as her personal mantra.
