EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have traded goaltender Anders Nilsson to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for goaltender Niklas Lundstrom and a 2016 fifth round draft pick.
The Oilers made the announcement Saturday morning.
Lundstrom has appeared in 13 games with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals this season. The 23-year-old Varmdo, Sweden native has an 8-3-0 record with the team, a 2.92 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. He’s also recorded one shut out.
The 6’2″, 200-pound goaltender has also appeared in four games with the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves.
Nilsson appeared in 26 games with the Oilers this season, recording a 10-12 record with a 3.14 GAA and .901 save percentage.
The Oilers also announced Saturday they have recalled goaltender Laurent Brossoit from the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. The 22-year-old had played 28 games with the Condors this season and has a 15-9-3 record. He’s recorded a 2.69 goals against average, a .919 save percentage and three shutouts.
Brossoit has played two career games for the Oilers.
The moves come after head coach Todd McLellan warned last week that changes within the organization were inevitable.
The Oilers have had a top-10 pick in each of the past seven drafts, including four No. 1 overall selections. Edmonton seems destined for another spot in the draft with a 22-34-7 record, worst in the NHL heading into Saturday night’s games.
