Suspicious fire ends in charges for Saskatoon man

SASKATOON – A man is facing several charges after a suspicious fire was spotted by the Saskatoon police air unit. The plane was on patrol early Friday morning when a fire was spotted a fire north of 71st Street.

A truck was seen leaving the scene and spotters on the plane directed patrol members to the truck where they took a man into custody.

The 35-year-old Saskatoon man is alleged to have been burning copper wire.

He is facing charges of driving while suspended, operating an unregistered vehicle, and dumping and disposing waste on city property.

Police say further charges are pending as they continue to investigate.
