EDMONTON — The death of a man in a neighbourhood in the southern reaches of Edmonton is the city’s latest confirmed homicide.
Following an autopsy on Tuesday, police said William John Patterson, 37, died from gunshot wounds and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police were called to a weapons complaint near Chappelle Drive and Claxton Loop in the city’s far southwest at around 4:55 a.m. Sunday.

Patterson was taken hospital and later died of his injuries.
Few other details have been released, but police said homicide detectives continue to investigate.
This is Edmonton’s sixth homicide of 2016.
