Update: Overlook Acres says Wheelz died Thursday morning.

Wheelz, a baby bunny whose rear legs are paralyzed, might be missing a spring in his step, but that’s not slowing him down.

Appropriately named Wheelz, the rabbit gets around with the help of a contraption made out of a mini skateboard and sock.

When Jason and Sonja Ambrosino found the injured and half-frozen baby bunny in the middle of the rabbit pen on their farm last week, they thought it had died.

“When we first saw him curled up, we thought he may have been dead, but then we saw his nose twitch,” Jason told ABC.

The Ambrosinos nursed him back to health with the help of their farm hands, but they noticed that Wheelz was dragging his hind legs around. They believe Wheelz was bitten on the spine by an adult rabbit, paralyzing him from his waist down.

“The first time we saw him on the skateboard, he just looked so happy,” Jason said. “He was zipping around everywhere.”

A video of Wheelz posted last week has over 23 million views on Facebook.

The Ambrosinos raise rabbits for meat on their farm, but say Wheelz will now be kept as a pet.
