Groupe Bikini Village posts Q1 net loss of $300,000; lower sales of $9.7M

MONTREAL – Groupe Bikini Village Inc. (TSX:GBV) has posted a lower net loss of $300,000 for its first quarter versus a loss of $353,000 for the same period in 2011.

Net sales were lower at $9.7 million compared to $9.9 million year-over-year, a decrease of 1.7 per cent, the swimsuit company said in a news release on Thursday.

But comparable sales, which measures the sales from the same number of stores year-over-year, increased by 2.8 per cent for the quarter.

Earnings per share came in at a loss of 16 cents versus a loss of 18 cents in the same period last year.

“We will continue to remain faithful to our strategies by paying a particular attention to the performance of all levels of the organization, to increase our business volumes while generating increased profitability, chief executive Yves Simard said.

Groupe Bikini Village operates 57 stores in eastern Canada and has about 450 employees.
