SASKATOON – The Leslie Potter sculpture known as “Visionaries” was damaged in downtown Saskatoon. Police received a call just after 8 p.m. CT on Monday that a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles caused damage to the carved stone columns.
Two of the three carved Dolomite figures were knocked over and one of the carvings broke into three pieces.

“We are somewhat relieved it appears the damage was accidental,” said the city’s community initiatives manager Kevin Kitchen.
“Of course, we would prefer no harm come to public works of art, but we are similarly encouraged the artist tells us he believes it can be restored.”
He added that the city’s insurance company and the artist will help determine what steps will be taken concerning the damaged work of art.
Visionaries was installed at the corner of 21st Street East and 2nd Avenue South in 1994.
