The incident happened towards the end of practice.

“At the end, the players took the time to throw pucks at their young fans,” wrote Valérie Meloche, the child’s mother, on Facebook.

“Unfortunately, one of the fans who caught a puck thrown by P.K. Subban was just a month old — and she caught it with her head.”

The puck apparently knocked little Béatrice unconscious.

She was given CPR on site and rushed to the Montreal Children’s Hospital in critical, but stable condition.

On Facebook, Meloche said she doesn’t think Subban realized what happened, but she doesn’t blame him.

The infant suffered a concussion and is under observation; she is expected to recover.

Meloche said she’s looking for all the people who helped her daughter.

“Especially the young man who ran to get help,” she said.

A team representative met with the family and invited Meloche, her husband and their four children to watch a future game at the Bell Centre in a private suite.

A spokesman said Subban also wanted to meet the family.
