MONTREAL – A public visitation was held in Val d’Or Sunday to remember officer Thierry Leroux from the Lac-Simon police force.
Leroux, 26, was shot and killed in the line of duty Feb. 13 in the small community of Lac-Simon just outside of Val d’Or, Que.
Those wishing to pay their respects could do so at the Blais Funeral home in Val d’Or, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m.
Leroux is being remembered as a “stand-up guy.”
Simon Villeneuve, one of Leroux’s best friends, said Leroux was always there to listen when he was feeling down.

There will also be a public visitation Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by a short ceremony in the adjoining chapel.
Mourners in Chicoutimi, will also have the opportunity to offer their condolences to the family at two separate viewings on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26 at the Alliance funéraire du Royaume on Saguenay East Boulevard.

An official police funeral service, including a full honour guard will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chicoutimi cathedral.
