The trusty Labrador retriever tops the list as the most popular dog breed in Canada for the 20th year in a row, according to an annual ranking by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
In 2014 there were an estimated 6.4 million pet pooches in Canada, and while your four-legged pal is likely tops in your heart some breeds are certainly more popular than others.
The list of 2015’s 10 most popular dog breeds feature a wide range, from the petite Yorkshire Terrier to the often-lumbering Bernese Mountain Dog.
It also shows some breeds are making gains; the French Bulldog made the top-10 list for the first time, and is the CKC’s fastest-rising breed in popularity.
The Frenchie has shot up from 67th place in 2005 to ninth in 2015.
“This diminutive breed is perfect for urban living spaces, makes an excellent companion for all ages and has minimal grooming needs,” the CKC states.
