Selinger’s approval rating ranks lowest in the country: Angus Reid

WINNIPEG — Months before a provincial election, Greg Selinger remains the least popular premier, according to a recent Angus Reid survey.

Selinger’s approval rating fell to 19 per cent in February, from 22 per cent in December.

“Pre-election job approval reveals a very different story in Manitoba for Greg Selinger. After nearly 17 years in government… Selinger faces an uphill battle ahead of an April 19 vote in that province,” Angus Reid said in the media release,

“His job performance is approved of by one-in-five Manitobans (19 per cent) close to his lowest approval rating of 17 per cent – in December 2014 – a time when he was facing a revolt within his own party ranks.”

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall continued to hold top spot in the poll with a 62 per cent approval rating.

The next Manitoba election will be held April 19, 2016.
