REGINA – Canada Border Services Agency officers in Saskatchewan seized suspected child pornography in two separate incidents last month.
On Jan. 7 at the North Portal land border, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers examined a Manitoba man’s cellphone and found images of suspected child pornography.
Then on Jan. 25, officers examined the electronics of a Saskatchewan man and found suspected obscene images and suspected child pornography images.
Both cases were referred to the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
Another incident that involved child pornography was on Jan. 5 when officers arrested a Canadian man at the North Portal crossing with an outstanding warrant for manufacturing child pornography and sexual assault. He was transferred over to RCMP.
At the same border entry, CBSA seized a flashlight that doubled as a prohibited stun gun on Jan. 3.
Thirteen overcapacity magazines were seized on Jan. 13, also at North Portal.
On Jan. 1 at the Oungre border crossing on Highway 35, a man from the United States was refused entry due to an assault causing bodily harm conviction.
That same day, officers at the Northgate border crossing on Highway 9 refused entry to another man from the U.S. who also had an assault causing bodily harm conviction as well as three impaired driving convictions.
A U.S. man was refused entry at the Estevan Highway border on Jan. 11 due to assault and unlawful confinement convictions.
Over at the Regway border crossing on Highway 6, officers helped a driver extinguish an engine fire on Jan. 9. They also donated food and gasoline to the driver. On Jan. 11, a semi truck crashed into an empty vehicle near the crossing. Officers pulled the driver out of the semi and contacted emergency responders.
