A 69-year-old man died in a massive house fire in Fernie, B.C. yesterday.
It happened shortly before 4:45 p.m. on February 12 at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 13th Street. Several witnesses reported hearing an explosion and rushed to the home with fire extinguishers.
They then found the victim unresponsive in a covered walkway at the front of the home, but couldn’t pull him out because of the fire and falling debris.
Forensic investigators have determined the fire and man’s death were not a result of foul play.
Next of kin have been notified, the but victim’s name has not been released.
