TORONTO — Drake has cemented his status as the “6 God” — getting handed the key to the city by Mayor John Tory.

The international rap star and local ambassador, looking dapper in a suit and tie, was given the ceremonial award Friday at an NBA All-Star weekend for his contributions to the city.

In accepting the honour, Drake — born Aubrey Drake Graham and raised in Forest Hill before hitting international fame — spoke of the city’s diversity.

“I want to encourage everybody to be unified, to take pride in this city that we’re from,” said the superstar.

Drake is coaching the NBA All-Star celebrity game Friday night and will play a prominent role in the festivities over the weekend.
