WESTMOUNT – Parti Québécois (PQ) leader Pierre Karl Péladeau received applause from an unconventional audience Friday when he spoke to students at Dawson College.

The PQ leader and media mogul didn’t soften his message.
“One day, Quebec will negotiate its own international treaties,” he said.

Péladeau spoke – in English – for about an hour about how he joined the media business through his father’s company.
He also spoke about his opinions on the Rona purchase by Lowe’s – he’s opposed to it – and Quebec sovereignty.

He asked the crowd several hypothetical questions about Scottish and Catalonian sovereignty movements.

Students at Dawson listened attentively and asked Péladeau a battery of questions: What about Quebec’s public debt? How would currency work? What about unions?

Péladeau made reference to the PQ’s plan to apply Bill 101 to CEGEPs, but conceded it’s simply something the party is discussing.
