Okanagan gymnasts gear up for Winter Games – Feb 12, 2016

PENTICTON, B.C. – The south Okanagan city of Penticton is about to host 1,700 athletes from around the province for the B.C. Winter Games.

Kelowna gymnasts are among those looking to climb their way to the podium.

“It’s my first big competition, so it’s pretty cool,” says Jack Nyrose.

“I just want to do my best and try my hardest,” says Oliver Eisele. “And I want to finish top ten!”

The group of 11 athletes between 9 and 14-years-old will travel to Penticton representing the Thompson-Okanagan region.

Many have the goal of heading to the Olympics some day, according to coach Jon Mason.

The B.C. Winter Games in Penticton get underway February 25.
