WINNIPEG — Get Fit Manitoba is featuring ways to stay active all year long.   In this episode, we take a look at the proper way to use and lift free weights.

For beginners, Shapes Fitness trainer, Jodi Bodnarchuk recommends using a machine that will help with form and after three to four weeks, change to free weights.

Using weights, it is always a good idea to start with five pounds, and work your way up by two to three pounds every few weeks, according to Bodnarchuk.
