TORONTO – Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating an incident in Toronto that ended with a 27-year-old man sent to hospital.

The Special Investigations Unit says that on Saturday evening, Toronto police investigated an assault at a rooming house.

They say the victim of the assault was a 58-year-old man, who was taken to hospital.

At about 1 a.m. Sunday, Emergency Task Force officers entered a room in the house.

The SIU says two “conducted energy weapons” were used, and a 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital with a leg injury.

The SIU is automatically called in to investigates reports involving police where someone is seriously injured or killed.
