WINNIPEG — Windy conditions and light snow has caused several highway closures around Winnipeg.
The following roads are currently closed in the region as of 5 P.M. :
- Highway 1 west to Portage La Prairie
- Highway 2 from Starbuck to Elm Creek
- Highway 75 south from Winnipeg to the U.S. border
A number of other roads surrounding the city of Winnipeg, including Highway 6, 8, 9 are also being reported as snow-covered or partly-covered on the province’s highway condition website.
Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. RCMP had received reports of 22 collisions.
Environment Canada now has a blowing snow advisory in effect for the city. The worst is expected in the earlier afternoon, with 2 to 4 cm of snow, while winds will reach 40 km/hr or more.

Blizzard conditions have already been reported from Lake Manitoba to Emerson with visibility of 400 metres or less due to blowing snow.
