SASKATOON – Before their game on Saturday, the Saskatoon Blades and the Regina Pats paid their respect to those who lost their lives in the tragedy in La Loche. In a show of solidarity, the teams stood united at SaskTel Centre.
The emotional pre-game ceremony involved the rival Western Hockey League (WHL) players standing together, alternating between Blades and Pats, in a circle in support of the northern Saskatchewan community.
A moment of silence was held as photos of the four victims who were shot and killed on Jan. 22 were on display at centre ice.

The announcer said members from La Loche who were in Saskatoon caring for surviving victims in hospital were in attendance.
Over $5,000 in proceeds from the 50/50 at the game will go north to the people in the community to use as they see fit in their recovery.
The Blades won 7-3 in front of 4,651 hockey fans after being shut out by the Pats 4-0 the previous night in Regina.
