The funeral for Marie Janvier, one of the La Loche shooting victims, will be held Saturday at a local church.
Janvier was shot eight days ago when a 17-year-old boy entered the La Loche Community School where she worked and opened fire.
She had only started working at the school in September as a teacher’s aide.
Friends said she planned to get her teaching degree someday.

Janvier is being remembered as a loving person with compassion for peoples and animals.
“She was a rare gem, a precious soul, a spirit without bounds,” her obituary on the Morning Glory Funeral Services website read.
The service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Church in La Loche. Her family is asking for people to make donations to La Loche Community School in lieu of sending flowers.
