RCMP officers are investigating the first fatal pedestrian motor collision of the year for the City of Surrey.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound in the 10400-block of 152nd Street. The unidentified pedestrian was struck in an area between crosswalks and later died of her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with police.
Investigators are looking at possible factors involved in the collision and if weather and visibility played a role.
Currently southbound traffic will be closed until further notice on 152nd Street between 102nd and 104th Avenue and access to Guildford Town Centre is limited.
