RED DEER, Alta. – A judge has ruled that a central Alberta teen’s statement to police after his arrest for alleged sex crimes involving minors can be entered into his trial as evidence.
The Red Deer boy, now 18, can’t be named due to his age at the time of the alleged offences.

He’s facing charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual assault with a weapon and committing an indecent act.
It’s alleged the crimes against a boy and four girls took place between 2011 and 2015 and some happened on trips with Scouts Canada and Cadets Canada.
The boy was arrested in June 2015 and gave an initial statement to police, which the judge ruled today was given voluntarily.
The entire two-hour long statement was then played for the court.
