BC Place is glowing orange for the next couple of nights to honour Vancouver’s “King of Swing” Dal Richards, who passed away on New Year’s Eve.
The stadium was lit up Thursday night, the first of three nights.
Richards was responsible for penning the BC Lions’ fight song “Roar, You Lions, Roar,” which is why BC Place is lit up in the team’s colours.
Richards was inducted into the BC Lions Wall of Fame in 2003.
The legendary bandleader has been honoured many times for his music and achievements and is a recipient of the Order of Canada, the Order of British Columbia, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and was the first inductee into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame.
