SPOKANE, Wash. — The airport in Spokane, Washington, is temporarily closed after freezing rain caused a United Airlines 737 to slide off an icy runway. No injuries were reported.
Spokane International Airport spokesman Todd Woodard says the slide happened at about 6 a.m. Tuesday as the plane was preparing to take off. The flight was bound for Denver.
Passengers are being off-loaded through a rear door of the airplane. The front wheels of the plane slid off the taxiway.
Passenger Austin Ola told KXLY-TV that the plane started sliding and “just went off the road.”
