Edmonton police search for witnesses to fatal pedestrian collision

EDMONTON — A 54-year-old man was killed while crossing the street last week and now police are asking for help to find the person responsible.

The Edmonton Police Service released a picture captured by a photo radar camera in hopes of locating several drivers who may have witnessed the fatal collision in the area of the area of 118 Avenue and 55 Street last Friday evening.

Police are looking for the drivers of a black Kia Soul, a red Mazda Protégé, a white Toyota Camry Co-op Taxi and a black four-door vehicle that drove through the intersection soon after the 54-year-old man was struck and killed in a marked crosswalk.

Police said the man was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu believed to have been driven by a 21-year-old man. It happened at around 5:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

The drivers or passengers of the witness vehicles are asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
