REGINA – The City of Regina repaired a broken sewer line Thursday after sewage spilled into Wascana Lake.
On Wednesday, city crews discovered the leak in the storm sewer, which discharges into the lake.
Crews have been on site since early Thursday morning and the sewer line has now been repaired.
“Our staff is continuously monitoring our sewer system and we reacted quickly to repair this leak, as we do whenever any identified leaks are found,” said Karen Gasmo, Transportation and Facilities Executive Director.
The city does not know how much sewage was released. Provincial officials were notified about the leak and the city is working with regulatory agencies to meet environmental requirements.
