Woman dies after being found on a gravel road on Alberta First Nation

EDMONTON — A 25-year-old Maskwacis woman has died of her injuries after she was found seriously injured on a gravel road in a rural area of the Samson Cree First Nation.

The woman, who RCMP originally thought was a teenager, has been identified as Christy Ramone Crane.

Crane was found sometime early Sunday morning. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she died overnight.

RCMP are investigating, but said at this time it’s not known if her death is criminal in nature.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Edmonton.

RCMP are still looking for more information on Crane’s death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maskwacis RCMP at 780-585-3767. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.

The Samson Cree First Nation is located about 95 kilometres south of Edmonton.

*Editor’s note: RCMP originally said the victim was a girl. However, they have since identified her as a 25-year-old woman.
