A Kamloops Mountie who was shot and critically injured one year ago is celebrating life today.

On Dec. 3, 2014, Cpl. Jean-Rene Michaud was shot while conducting a routine traffic stop in Kamloops.

Kenneth Knutson is due back in court Monday on a charge of attempted murder.

On Thursday, Michaud posted on Facebook that he is grateful to be here and able to hug and kiss his wife and kids. Michaud has undergone a dozen surgeries but hopes to return to work at some point in the new year.
