Global Calgary is taking our show on the road Ronald McDonald House on Wednesday Dec. 2.
Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for out-of-town families with sick children who are receiving medical care in Calgary hospitals. The idea is to keep families together in a compassionate and comfortable, home-like atmosphere.
For the month of December, Shaw Media—Global’s parent company—is working with the charity as a House Hero. Global Calgary will participate in the Season of Warmth initiative by volunteering at the house, helping with dinners, crafts and carolling.
On Wednesday we will show the “Light the House” event, with 13,000 LED lights to spread the holiday cheer. There will be sleigh rides, and pizza provided by the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
Global’s health reporter Heather Yourex-West will also tell the story of a family who’s spent more than 500 nights at the House while their young daughter has been sick.
