Corbeaux Bakehouse on 17 Avenue closes its doors for good

CALGARY – Just over a year after opening, Corbeaux Bakehouse shut its doors permanently Saturday night.

The bakery and restaurant owned by Fratello Roasters opened 11 months ago along 17 Avenue in the space formerly occupied by Melrose Café and Bar.

The eatery offered breads, pastries and a rotating menu, led by award winning chef Keith Luce.

The company says the decision has been a difficult one but that its business model wasn’t suited for such a large location.

It says the Corbeaux brand will continue and that bakery production is being moved to the Fratello Warehouse just off Blackfoot Trail.

Brothers Chris and Russ Prefontaine are behind Corbeaux, as well as Fratello Coffee Roasters and Analog Cafes.
