TORONTO — A 25-year-old Oshawa man has been arrested and charged with luring in an investigation into the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl he met online.
Durham Regional Police said the girl was contacted through Facebook in May 2015 by the man, who claimed to be 20 years old.
Their online relationship continued and police said the suspect convinced the victim to send him compromising photos of herself before the two allegedly met and the man sexually assaulted her at his apartment.
Investigators have also identified another victim who alleged to have been lured online and sent compromising photos to the suspect and police want to ensure there are no others.
Shelby Brittian, 25, of Frontenac Avenue in Oshawa, has been charged with 10 offences including sexual assault, sexual interference, luring and possession of child pornography.
Police said the suspect has used the online aliases Ender, Jack Paine, Rayne Meister and MrEnder1337 and had claimed to be as young as 17 years old in some incidences.
Anyone with new information is asked to contact the Durham Regional Police ICE Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5350 or Crime Stoppers.
