No charges have been approved against any police officers involved in last year’s shooting in Yaletown.

The shooting happened in broad daylight in June of last year. The suspect, 61-year-old Gerald Battersby, was shot in a dramatic gunfire exchange with police officers in what Vancouver police deputy police chief called an “extraordinary” incident.

He is now facing six counts of attempted murder, but plead not guilty last year.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) got involved and conducted an investigation into the incident because Battersby suffered gunshot wounds.

The Criminal Justice Branch says a report was submitted to Crown Counsel, suggesting an officer may have committed an offence, but it has concluded that the available evidence does not meet its charge assessment standard for approval of any charges against police arising from the circumstances.
