TORONTO – A 17-year-old Toronto boy faces child pornography charges after he allegedly posed as a girl to lure a child online.
It is alleged the boy masqueraded as a 15-year-old girl and communicated with his victim through various social media applications such as Kik, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram between September 2014 and April 2015.
Police said the boy managed to lure the child into providing photographs which he distributed online.
The accused used the usernames Amanda and PencilCrayons, among others.
He was arrested on Nov. 16 and his identity cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The boy faces charges of luring a child under 18, extortion, two counts of distribute child pornography, possession child pornography and accessing child pornography.
Police believe there may be more victims and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
