EDMONTON – The Calgary Stampede announced Tuesday it “said good bye” to 19 employees due to organizational changes.
In a letter to volunteers, Calgary Stampede CEO Warren Connell said they have spoken with every employee whose position has been impacted.
While Connell said there are no further employee cuts planned right now, he said they have spoken to a number of employees about possible role changes.
“Although this is an unfortunate measure, it is one we had to undertake,” Connell said in his letter. “The Calgary Stampede, like many other Alberta organizations, has had to deal with a changed economic environment, including the reduction to our provincial grant earlier this year.
“We have taken great care to treat each individual with the utmost respect and as fairly as possible in recognition of their position and years of service.”
Any employees with questions are asked to contact their committee chair starting Wednesday.
