LAKE LOUISE, Alta. – Researchers in Banff National Park have captured a rare picture of an elusive Canada lynx.
The image of the tufted-ear cat was taken by motion-sensitive cameras as it crossed a wildlife overpass built over the Trans Canada Highway.

Such overpasses have been built to reduce the large number of animals that are killed by vehicles each year in the mountain parks.
An adult lynx is about twice the size of an adult house cat.
Lynx are mostly active at night and hunt snowshoe hares.
