Oakville man charged in spate of suspicious fires

OAKVILLE, Ont. – Halton Police have charged an Oakville man in connection with three suspicious fires in the city.

The fires occurred over the past several weeks – one at Lions Valley park, another at a playground at the Glen Abbey recreational centre, and the third in a barn at St. Volodymyr’s Church.

Alexandre Lemelin, 28 was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of arson.

He was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation into the fires is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
