Think of them as 100 per cent cotton for the 99 per cent.
Fans of U.S. Democratic Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, the feisty lawmaker who harnessed the discontent of the Occupy Wall Street movement, can occupy their favourite Senator’s boxers.
Or boxers with his face on them, at least.
“Bernie’s Briefs” is the creation of Alexandra MacLean, Nick Sherman, and Todd Bailey, three employees at strategic communications firm KSE Partners in Montpelier, Vermont.
“As you can imagine, being in Vermont, we’re very familiar with Bernie,” Sherman told Global News. “It’s amazing, having somebody from our small state out there making such a huge impact on issues that are really important to this country.”

Available in both men’s and women’s styles, the white underwear comes screen printed with a simple image of Bernie Sander’s face with the slogan “Feel the Bern.”
The idea came from comedian Larry David’s turn as Sanders during a skit on Saturday Night Live, during which he complained about his lack of underwear.
“I own one pair of underwear! That’s it!” David-as-Sanders said. “Some of these billionaires, they’ve got three, four pairs!”
Seizing upon the “one pair” comment, the idea for “Bernie’s Briefs” was born.
“When we started it, we basically screen-printed one pair with art materiel we had lying around, and thought it was funny and maybe we’d sell a couple pairs.”
“Since then, I don’t know what the exact number is, but we’ve been getting lots of orders from around the country. I can’t say what the exact number of orders is but it’s getting up into the hundreds, and beyond that.”

The briefs retail for $15 U.S., with 10% of the proceeds going to the Yellow Ribbon Fund, a charity dedicated to supporting injured veterans.
The Sanders campaign has not responded to Global News’s request for comment on the Bernie-themed undies
“We’ve heard some rumours that they may have seen it,” Sherman said. “We’re not expecting that they’ll be super-psyched.”
