An English bulldog in California became the centre of a police investigation this week.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a family in Fontana was robbed on Saturday and their beloved six-year-old dog Gunny was taken.
Then, friends of the family noticed Craigslist ads that listed Gunny for sale for $2,500.

The owners contacted the sellers as prospective buyers and set up a meeting in a parking lot. The family enlisted detectives to set up surveillance while the owners met up with the suspects selling Gunny.

One of the owners immediately identified their dog at the meeting and police intervened with a traffic stop to return Gunny to his family. The two suspects, Jamill Slaughter, 21, and Carla Martinez, 19, have been arrested and according to CBS, live near Gunny’s owners.
Slaughter and Martinez could face multiple charges including possession of stolen property.
Police say they do not know if Slaughter and Martinez are suspected of the weekend robbery.
