1 person arrested, 3 on the loose after police-involved shooting in south Edmonton

EDMONTON – Police are looking for three suspects after a vehicle sped away from officers during a traffic stop in south Edmonton Monday night.

At around 10:40 p.m. police pulled over a Range Rover in the area of 89 Street and 81 Avenue. There were four people inside at the time.

While attempting to arrest the man driving the SUV police said one officer was assaulted. The driver then ran back to the vehicle and sped away from the area. Police said an officer’s firearm was discharged during the incident.

With help of the EPS Canine Unit, the Range Rover was located about 10 minutes later, in the area of 96 Street and 77 Avenue. One woman was arrested, but police said Tuesday they are still searching for three other suspects – two men and one woman.

It’s not known why the vehicle was pulled over by police.
