The small riding of Fredericton has secured a seat for the Liberals in the 2015 federal election, with Matt DeCourcey winning tonight robbing Conservative Keith Ashfield of a third consecutive term.
The riding of Fredericton was one to watch this election, and just less than a week before the election, results were showing the residents were leaning Liberal.
The region was under liberal rule since 1993, until MP Andy Scott left politics in 2008 leaving the door open for Conservative Keith Ashfield to take the seat. Fredericton was a Progressive Conservative seat from 1957 to 1993.
Ashfield won the seat again in 2011.
Green Party candidate Mary Lou Babineau and NDP Sharon Scott-Levesque were also running in this riding.
