Peter Fonseca has retaken the riding of Mississauga East-Cooksville for the Liberals.

With the win, Fonseca avenges his 2011 loss to Conservative Wladyslaw Lizon, who placed second.

This relatively recent riding, first created in 2004, was a solidly Liberal stronghold since its until the Conservatives won a narrow victory in 2011. Liberal Albina Guarnieri won this seat with at least 50 per cent of the vote in 2004, 2006 and 2008 but did not run in 2011 and Conservative Lizon eked out a 676-vote win over Fonseca.

Redistributed riding results give Lizon a far wider margin of victory but Fonseca, a former Olympic marathoner and Ontario MPP, enjoyed a powerful endorsement from former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion.
