TORONTO – A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after the pick-up truck she was driving struck a pole in west-end Toronto early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Lakeshore Boulevard just west of Royal York Road.
Area resident Beverly Banks said she heard a loud sound and rushed to the scene to find the driver on the ground.

“I’m not sure how she is. I hope she survives. But she was out of the vehicle. Not sure how she got out, the vehicle was almost in half,” she said.
The woman was rushed to hospital with serious leg injuries.
There’s no word yet on what caused the crash but police say speed may have been a factor.
