Shooting near Sylvan Lake sends one person to hospital

EDMONTON – A shooting in central Alberta sent one person to hospital Thursday morning.

RCMP said the shooting happened four kilometres west of Sylvan Lake.  STARS air ambulance responded around 9 a.m. A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with at least one gunshot wound in serious condition.

Police said they were actively searching for a suspect. Mounties asked for people to avoid the area, both for the safety of police and the public.

Police were asking the public for help finding a newer model Black Mazda CX5, but officers later confirmed they had located the vehicle in Sylvan Lake but it was unoccupied.
